Garage Storage Systems

With the current trend in home decoration, do it yourself projects, and home organization, you will find dozens of garage storage systems to choose from when you’re ready to redo your garage.

A lot of these are enclosed systems that allow you to put your clutter behind closed doors. Once you get the system installed, this is a fast way to get your garage looking neat and organized.

Traditional cabinetry systems are one option for garage storage. A good source for these is from people who are redoing their kitchens and bathrooms.

You can find their cast-offs on online auction sites, online freebie sites, at garage and yard sales, and through the newspaper. You can easily hire someone to install them for you in an afternoon, or make a do it yourself project.

You can install them high, like above a workbench, or to avoid the nose of your car when you’re parking in the garage, or you can install them down along ground level and put a counter on top as a work or storage space.

Some of the new tracked garage storage systems also have enclosed cabinetry as an option, too. They have plastic cabinets, pressboard, and MDF, among other materials.

These are great, because you can design the system easily with the pieces that will suit you best. You can also change it around as your needs change. They are easily combined with the open shelving, hooks, and baskets from these manufacturers and products.

Tall, enclosed cabinetry is another option. Plastic cabinets from major manufacturers are available at home improvement centers and discount stores.

They are lockable, too, so you can put things like paints, fertilizers, and antifreeze inside out of the reach of small children. This kind of cabinetry is also available in pressed board, wood, and other materials.

Of course, you can also go with open shelving and boxes and bins as your garage storage systems.

Remember not to use cardboard boxes that are taped up (like old paper ream boxes), however, as the adhesive will attract spiders, and they will nest there to be near the adhesive, which they like to eat.
